    Pumping from the sump? A quarter turn shut off valve may be quite a bit cheaper than a gate, and quicker to use. I would still connect it via threads

    It's going to be pumped out , so it will have a gate valve installed off a tee . There wouldn't be any chance of backflow unless it happened to occur
